Lalit Modi, the man behind the Indian Premier League, has thrown his support behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to win IPL 2025.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Modi shared a viral Ghibli-style image of Virat Kohli holding the IPL trophy and predicted this could finally be RCB’s year. “I think I will take to predicting that Royal Challengers Bengaluru will win the IPL this year. It will be much loved by the RCB fans who have waited a good 18 years. They surely deserve it,” he wrote.
Modi didn’t hold back his admiration for Kohli either. He praised the star batter for his loyalty to RCB and his massive contribution to Indian cricket since his debut in 2008. “Virat Kohli the superstar who started with RCB right from the start… went on to a brilliant career winning the hearts of over a billion people globally,” he added.
RCB has never won the IPL title, but their fan base remains rock solid. They’re currently the most-followed team on Instagram—proof of their unmatched support, even after 17 trophyless seasons.
This year, they’re putting up a strong fight. Rajat Patidar has taken on the captaincy and led the team to four away wins so far. With the season in full swing, they’re pushing hard for a playoff spot—and maybe more.
Modi’s post is a morale boost for a team chasing history. If RCB can keep their momentum, this just might be the season their fans finally get what they’ve been waiting for.
