Hardik Pandya Gives Honest Reply On Being Asked About Full Time Captaincy

Lately, the Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been in a lot of news for his marvelous performances and for the potential he owns to be the future captain. He captained Gujarat Titans in their debut season of IPL and led them towards spectacular glory. Not just that, he also led the men in blue during the Ireland series and also in the fifth and final T20I against West Indies which are testament to how he has been enjoying the responsibilities bestowed upon him.

Pandya’s approach when asked about his views on being the future Indian captain

After winning the series with a beautiful 4-1 over West Indies at Lauderhill in Florida, Pandya said,

“Yeah! why not? If I get an opportunity in the future, I’ll be more than happy to do that, but right now we have the World Cup, and we have the Asia Cup (coming up),”

He also said in the post-match presentation,

“We’re going to focus on that and make sure as a team what we’re doing, we continue (with that) and make sure that all the skillsets, which we are learning we can keep getting better at it, and at the same point of time enjoy the game as well,”

India has used as many as 8 captains across the format this year. But the potential Pandya has shown is beyond praiseworthy and needs a lot more acknowledgment.

Rohit says it’s “fantastic” and “very exciting to create so many leaders around the team.”

Rohit Sharma told in Star Sports’ Follow the Blues show,

“I know it’s very exciting to create so many leaders around the team because it’s always a good sign”

He also added,

“I think it’s very important to have that leadership, but obviously, you know we play the IPL and it’s a 10- team tournament. So, there will be 10 captains who at some stage will be a part of the Indian team as well”

He further adds,

“I think it’s fantastic because honestly, my job is much lesser as these guys understand everything pretty well. So, it’s just about if someone’s having a thought, how am I going to back that up? For me as captain that is my role and that is what I’m trying to do.”

This year India has played about 7 T20I series and has won 6 out of them. With such exceptional rising stars who have the potential of being the future captain, we hope the Indian team keeps on shining forever.
