BCCI has announced the 16-member Indian squad on Wednesday, July 6, for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. After realizing that the cricketers, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been rested for the upcoming series beginning on July 22 that will continue till the 27th in Port of Spain, Trinidad, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan took to Twitter and wrote a cryptic tweet.
Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the captain of the Indian team
The All-India Senior Selection Committee appointed the veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan as the captain of the Indian cricket team. On the other hand, many prominent regular players were rested by the BCCI.
After the ongoing tour of England comes to an end, the Indian team to be led by Shikhar Dhawan will travel to the Caribbean for a limited-overs tour. The schedule of team India includes 3 ODIs followed by five T20Is against West Indies. Considering the build-up for the T20I series, the star cricketers are expected to return for it.
Team India Squad for WI Tour
The selection committee appointed all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as the deputy for the West Indies series. The other players to join the ODI series against WI include Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Hooda, Shubham Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson have been selected for the role of the wicketkeeper.
The bowling unit of the team includes competent names like Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj.
The notable players Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli Rested Again
Meanwhile, the all-format captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and all-rounder Hardik Pandya have been rested by the BCCI for the upcoming series.
The decision to rest out of form Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli by the BCCI has been difficult to accept by many. Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan also expressed his disappointment for the same by taking a sly dig at Kohli and Rohit. Irfan took to social media and wrote:
“No one comes back to form while resting…”
No one comes back to form while resting…

Pathan’s opinion is also influenced by India’s defeat in the 5th Test against England at Edgbaston as during the match the regular captain Rohit Sharma was absent due to Covid-19 and Virat Kohli recording scores of 11 and 20 respectively.
Irfan’s comment on resting the out-of-form players was backed by several Twitter users

Why not permanently drop Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli instead of giving temporary rest.
Send them on permanent rest. https://t.co/HwcBSvL2kL
