Rohit Sharma Opens Up On Dinesh Karthik VS Rishabh Pant Debate

On Sunday, the India cricket team bagged a marvelous win against the Australians with a count of 2-1. As we all know the Karthik VS Pant Debate is one of the hottest debates of the Indian cricket team. Speaking at the post-series press conference skipper Rohit Sharma talked about the same and claimed that both Karthik and Pant were in the fray to play all the games at the Asia Cup.

The India VS Australia series was indeed an exciting one and with its winning Sharma provided more clarity about the selections of the two wicketkeepers for the upcoming WorldCup.

Rohit says he wants Pant and Karthik to enjoy some game time before the World Cup

Everyone believes that the Indian cricket team keeps on switching between Pant and Karthik for every other match. However, post the winning of the third T20I against Australia skipper Rohit provides more coherence about the debate over both players by saying,

“I wanted both of these guys to have a number of games under their belt before the World Cup. When we went to the Asia Cup both of these guys were in the fray to play all games. But I just feel that Dinesh needs a little more game time. He hardly got to bat (this series). Just maybe three balls. So that’s not enough time. Pant also needs game time obviously. But looking at how this series was it was important for me to just stick to that consistent batting lineup.”

Rohit emphasizes how both the players were already named in the Indian squad to play all the matches of the Asia cup 2022. And just like that, they have been selected for the World Cup as well.

India has picked Pant and Karthik in its power-packed squad for the upcoming World Cup

The latest installment of the ICC World T20 is on its way. Starting from the 16th of October the tournament will be hosted by the defending champions Australia. And even though the Indian cricket team has been keen on switching both Pant and Karthik the clarity is here.

The left-handed batsman Rishabh Pant barely got to make his appearance in the India VS Australia series and so did the senior gloveman Dinesh Karthik who rarely got to showcase his batting exploits. Nonetheless, both of them have secured a place in the power-packed squad for the upcoming World Cup.

Rohit Sharma talking about the India VS South Africa Series

After defeating the Australians, India is now up against the Proteas. They have already won their first match against the Proteas by 8 wickets and 20 balls were still left. However, about who between Pant and Karthik will be a part of the playing XI, Rohit says,

“I don’t know what we’re gonna do against South Africa. We just need to go and see their bowling, what sort of bowling lineup they’ll play with, and who are the best guys for us who can handle that bowling lineup. It all depends on that. We want to be flexible in our batting.”

Rohit concluded by saying,

“So if the situation or if the thing demands that we need a left-hander, we will bring in a left-hander if we need a right-hander, we will continue to do that. But we’ll try and manage those guys pretty carefully. I do understand that they need game time before the World Cup but there are only 11 players you can play, unfortunately”
