5 Cricketers Who Made Their Debut Way Before MS Dhoni And Are Still Playing

MS Dhoni made his first debut at a very young age which was rather surprising enough. And now he retired from international cricket. There were cricketers who started playing way before him but they are still playing even when he retired.

Below is the list:

1. Chris Gayle

Chris is 41 years old at the moment. He made his first debut back in 1999 in an ODI against India. Though his first few matches weren’t as impressive as it is now. But he did try his best and deliver in the best way possible.

Even after the fact that he is 41, Gayle will be representing West Indies in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

2. James Anderson

James is currently 39 years old. His first international debut was during a match against Australia but England lost the match. Though the beginning of his career wasn’t that prosperous in the way he thought it to be, now he’s been hitting sixes the way we expect him to during games. He is one of the fastest bowlers at the moment and he has an international score of 908 wickets.

3. Shoaib Malik

He is just 39 years old and one of the most brilliant Pakistani players. He made his first international debut back in 1999, in a match against West Indies. When he joined the national team, he was introduced as a spinner and he surprised everyone with his amazing skills.

But now he is reduced to only T20 matches. Though nothing remarkable has happened at this moment, he is expected to continue the match since it’s gonna happen in UAE and Oman.

4. Mohammed Hafeez

Yet another Pakistani cricketer. He aging like fine wine, nothing is changing about him except the fact that he’s constantly getting better in his gaming skills. Right now he’s 40 years old. And his first debut was in 2003 against Zimbabwe. That match changed his entire career since he was successful in proving himself.

The sad fact was he failed to score some good numbers during the beginning of his career and also during the starting day of an international cricketer. But then slowly he got the pace right and went for the classic way of playing which eventually led to his success.

5. Dwayne Bravo

An all-rounder of a cricketer! Not only did he excel in his career in cricket, but he never failed to entertain his audience. A songwriter, with very informative songs about the cricket industry all around the world. He started his career on the day where he didn’t get a chance to bat because of the swampy weather.

But then slowly he picked up, he has been one of the biggest support to Dhoni during the IPL, while he played for Chennai Super Kings.

However, he was impressed with the ball as his medium-pace got the prized scalps of Marcus Trescothick and Andrew Strauss. But now he bids his farewell to international cricket and reports say he will officially resign after the T20 world cup.
