11 Indian Cricketers Who Failed To Live Up To The Expectations Of Fans

Even if you don’t know the ‘C’ of cricket, or you are a pro player. All of us Indians are united by this sport, there’s no other way around. Just like that, that sport requires players and we end up rooting for players. We’ve got players for whom we jump and get nervous when they perform. But as we all know, expectations hurt. And sometimes we get disappointed by their actions.

Here’s the list of cricketers, who ended up disappointing their fans-

1. Robin Uthappa

Robin mainly played as a wicket-keeper batsman. When it comes to his playing skills, it wasn’t really very bad. Rather it helped India to reach T-20 World Cup in 2007.

Though his performance really helped the Indian cricket team. But, gradually it went on the downside. No one really knew the main reason behind this. His performance started degrading. So much so that he failed miserably at small run games as well.

His fans had huge expectations from him, perhaps that didn’t last for long. He ended up disappointing his fans when it came to the long run.

2. Abhinav Mukund

Must be living under a rock, if you are unaware of this name. During his pre-pre-career years, he gained a lot of attention, became one of the known names in the cricket field.

Played very well, got the podium he deserved. But not getting the actual recognition in this port wasn’t mostly his fault.

He was under Murali Vijay, who had a strong belief that Abhinav cannot score well in the openings. Though he smashed an amazing 82. He didn’t sustain for very long and faded away in oblivion, due to lack of opportunities.

3. Saurabh Tiwary

Tiwary was seen during the Indian Premier League, with his smashing performance and very different style, we did become fan favorites in a little span of time.

But just because he was getting heads in lock with top players like Dhoni and Yuvraj he didn’t get many chances when it came to international participation.

So he stayed back for the domestic games of the country, like IPL.

4. Piyush Chawla

Though it was not an easy path for this insanely talented leg-break bowler to make his way in the national teams.

But just due to the lack of fair opportunities he just got 3 test matches to perform. Though he did not make it big to the national teams. He played off and performed really well when it came down to the domestic games.

He also performed as an amazing spin-partner to Sunil during the IPL for KKR.

5. Manoj Tiwari

Tiwari was tagged as the biggest fear to his opponents on the cricket field. He is an absolute gem to the sport when it comes to domestic games like IPL. On playing only 12 matches, he scored a century and a half.

But due to a cut-and-run competition, he failed to get into the national teams. And he was pushed back to the domestic games, IPL. Though he still plays amazingly at that.

6. Gurkeerat Mann Singh

There were a lot of hopes for him, mostly because he was an amazing IPL player. Everyone rooted for him to make it to the national team. But during the main day, he could only manage 13 runs out of 3 games. As usual, he was shifted to the domestic games and did not get a chance to snatch his dreams.

7. Pawan Negi

As known, he was called the mystery man of the Delhi Daredevils. Though his bowling technique was amazing it was expected for him to make it to the big fields.

But, unfortunately, he was later tagged as one of the most monotonous and predictable spinners in the team. Which not only led him to not go get in the national team but also his career sank. He couldn’t do much about any of those though.

8. Rishi Dhawan

Rishi was tagged as a friend to Hardik Pandya. The main reason for him to be out of the team was because of his exorbitant price.

Not only that, he did promise to be a good player in the IPL for Punjab. But the way his tailspin style was degrading, he couldn’t do much to recover it and hence got blacklisted.

9. Pankaj Singh

He was mostly known for his fast, speedy, and mean way of bowling. He was hyped so well that he did get an offer to join the national team.

No word other than, “pathetic” could describe his way of playing during the nationals against Sri Lanka and England. He did not play up to the mark, and the hype that was created for him was perhaps worthless mostly.

10. Parvez Rasool

One of the most prominent cricketing names of cricket. A player from Jammu and Kashmir. He hit off very well during his firsts and played like an absolute champ. Being an amazing bowler when it came to him against players of his level, he did not make a specific podium for himself.

With Yuzvendra playing better than him. Rasool was blacklisted from the selection council, once and for all.

11. Sreenath Aravind

One of the very promising and prominent players from Karnataka was Sreenath. But when he was made to play for the selections, his performance was not that of an impressive one.

He failed to play better than his replacement Zaheer and thus, did not make it to the fields he prolly deserved.

Everyone got ups and downs in their life. Just like these cricketers. Though they didn’t live up to the expectations of their fans, they still are a role model to many. Even if they didn’t get through the selections, they play with all they have for the domestic games, and honestly, all we can do is support them, no matter what. They’re our players and pride after all.
