5 India U-19 Cricketers Who Failed To Deliver In Senior Cricket

Being a part of the country’s team is not a small deal. Be it a junior or a senior player, it takes a lot of practice and capability to get selected for the team while there are thousands of other players waiting for the same position.

Junior players are often seen as the players who’d continue to be prominent during the later part of their career as well. But that’s not always the case. There are some junior players, who made a great performance but didn’t continue their performance during the later stage of their career.

The list of 5 such players are as follows:

1. Unmukt Chand

Chand was mainly known for his on-point timings and stroke-play skills. He was one of the best players in his team during his batch. Where he impressed everyone, the judges, teammates, audience. In a quadrangular series, he scored an amazing century in a match against Sri Lanka. He also ended up with half-centuries during matches against Australia and England.

His impressive performance during the finals saw India thump Australia with any hurdle. His partnership with Smit Patel was the best thing during the entire match.

He also was the highest run-scorer during the ACC U19 Asia Cup, But unfortunately, he still didn’t receive a call for him to join the national team.

One of the probable reasons for this can be his dalliance with inconsistency and another pivotal factor that will be like a mountain in front of him is his biggest contender, India’s most dependable number 3, Virat Kohli, whom he will have to challenge.

2. Baba Aparijith

Aparajith was known to be one of the most talented batsmen during the 2012 U19 World cup. India had their all hopes on Aparajith and he didn’t disappoint. He successfully brought in knocks for the team whenever it was needed.

Everyone believed that he had the full capability of making his way into the national team. That was believed because of his technical abilities when it came down to sports.

When his performance during the U19 impressed everyone, he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings team. But the sad part is the team is always focused on big names rather than talent. Thus after he left CSK, he joined Rising Pune Supergiant, unfortunately, he failed to make it big either.

Now that he faded from the big fields, now he mostly plays for the domestic games. Which provides him much less exposure than he deserved.

3. Vijay Zol

Zol is from Maharashtra and he did not fail to impress people with his amazing skills either. Not only that he was also selected as the vice-captain during the U19 world cup for team India.

But just like the others on this list, he failed to live up to the expectations as well. He was well known for his aggression and leadership skills.

His blistering scores of 128, 173, and 113 in the following year produced all the more comments that he can be a very crucial batting option for India.

He did end up scoring and playing really well for India. Later he started captaining India for the u19. But the team got eliminated and he scored 48 runs. Since 2014 he has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore, but he never really got the fame because of the already big names in the team.

4. Taruwar Kohli

One of the prominent reasons behind his fading away is because of the already big names in the Indian team. While One Kohli went on to rule the world with some extra-terrestrial brilliance, the other ebbed away to dust with some mediocre performances after a fabulous start.

He holds a record of scoring an easy triple-century. But due to the lack of opportunity, he did not get a chance to prove himself and his skills in the big field.

The worst part is, he barely even is a part of the cricket team anymore now.

5. Deepak Hooda

He started off with a pretty impressive performance during the beginning. Not only that he did score 237 runs during the U19 world cup. But when it came to the bigger fields he failed to live up to the expectations.

His first-class cricketing career was also top-notch that witnessed him scoring a fabulous and unbeaten 293.
