10 Replies By Virender Sehwag That Shows He Is One Of The Wittiest Cricketers Ever

Virender Sehwag is one of the most well-known names when it comes to Indian Cricket. Mostly known for his destructive batting skills.

But is it all that makes him stand out from the other cricketers? Well, Sehwag has reportedly given some very witty replies, which perhaps would have been a part of a controversy if he didn’t have played it so cool.

Here are some of the replies Sehwag gave, which made him different from other players:

1. Tendulkar Or Sehwag, What’s The Difference?

Few years into the field and reporters didn’t hesitate to ask Sehwag questions which was rather rude. But Sehwag being the terrific man he is, managed to hit it off cool.

Interviewer- “What is the difference between you and Sachin?”

Sehwag- “Our bank balance.”

An English cricketer once praised Sehwag because of his performance. But one time he also commented on Sehwag being a brainless batter. To that, Sehwag replied,

“Boycott can say what he wants. He once batted the whole day and hit just one four.”

3. Sehwag’s Love Towards Puppies

Micheal Clarke, an Australian cricketer was named “Pup” by his teammates. Unfortunately, Pup didn’t get spared by Sehwag either.

4. Sehwag Being A Future Teller

During a match, where Sehwag was told not to hit a six by Sachin and it went like,

Sachin- “Tu six nahi marega (don’t hit a six.)”

Sehwag- “Saqlain Mushtaq bowl karne aaya toh main six jaroor maroonga. (If Saqlain Mushtaq comes to bowl, I’ll definitely hit a six.)”

Miraculously, he did end up hitting a six right after that when Saqlain came to bowl.

5. Sehwag on Vinoo

In 2006, Sehwag and Dravid were asked by a reporter whether they could break Vinoo Mankad’s record. To that, Sehwag replied, “Who is Vinoo Mankad?”

6. Sehwag And The Mystery Of The Lost Ball

Sehwag and Jeremy Snape faced a lot of difficulties handling the reversed swinging ball by Abdul Razzaq.

To handle that, he told Snape, “We must lose this ball. I have a plan.” After saying that, Sehwag hit the ball so hard that it was outside the stadium. He then walked up to Snape saying, “We’re alright for one hour now.”

This incident happened during a match back in 2003. Where Sehwag scored 195 runs and he tried to hit a six to score a double.

Sehwag- “I just missed the six by just three yards.”

Sehwag was asked as to how he managed to hit fastballs, by terrific bowlers like Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee, without any difficulty. To that he replied,

Sehwag was kinda trolled and criticized because of his sloppy footwork. When he was asked regarding the same during an interview he replied,

“They don’t know I used to throw 10 buckets of water on flat pitches, just to practice that shot.”

10. Sehwag’s Take On Not Being A Part Of Team India.

Sehwag was removed from the Indian Team after the 2011 World Cup.

The conversation about that went like,

Interviewer- “You may never play for India again.”

Sehwag- “Well, whose loss is that?”
