5 Best Knocks By Indians Against England In Test Cricket

India has always been strong in batting. Though a few times their batting skills did make up questions as to how they reached the position they were. India has finally got a very good grip on its batting these days, whereas the boys are scoring good against the teams internationally as well.

Down the list are some of the special knocks Indian batters had against England:

1. Karun Nair – 303*

Against England Karun Nair scored a very good score of 303 not out in the first innings. His gaming style is a bit aggressive at times and that’s how he reaches such high numbers at times, certainly. The fun fact was he stayed unbeaten till the very last and when the game ended his tidal run score in the card was 303 from 381 balls. With about 32 fours and 4 sixes! After Sehwag, Karun turned out to be the only cricketer to score a triple century in a test match. Young blood.

2. Sunil Gavaskar – 221

Sunil Gavaskar, the show stealer of any match! With him being the player India reached some great heights, despite the opponent and how strong the team claimed to be. During the match Gavaskar ended up with a score of 221 runs. He started off the batting after Dilip Vengsarkar was out, and he single handedly scored such a high one with 21 fours in the counting. But unfortunately India did not match that match.

3. Vinod Kambli – 224

Vinod Kambli lost his career in cricket due to some politics and controversies. But he was one of the assets to the team. In a match England batted first to score 347 in the first innings. India had a good start courtesy Navjot Singh Sidhu and Manoj Prabhakar and later Vinod kambli hammered 224 of 411 deliveries which helped India post a mammoth total of 591 in the first innings. He struck 23 fours.

4. Gundappa Viswanath – 222

Just because there were some drawbacks, India did not taste victory in this match. But those matches were basically where India was learning and learning the point of prey towards the other teams. Vengsrakar and Viswanath were holding out the match with the best they could, but due to an injury Vengsarkar had to back off. When Sharma and Viswanath teamed up they started hitting their best shots. At the end Sharma had a score of 140 runs and Vishwanath with a run count of 222 from 374 balls, hammering 31 fours.

5. Virat Kohli – 235

During the matches back in 2014, Virat obviously didn’t get a good chance to portray his skills. But in 2016 Virat was all suited up and ready to chase like the lion he is. In the first innings England scored its first innings of 400. That did not let the boys down, yet it made them more energetic and made him fight for it. While he was in partnership with Murali Vijay they played in the best way possible. Vijay scored 136 runs and Kohli scored 235. He had around 35 fours and 1 six during the game.
